Today the gang took us to disney studios. The place is really hugeeeeeee!!!!!!!! and they also have an internship programme They showed us clips from tangled.I got to admire their hair animation. SO gonna catch that movie

Well been One and a half months
An update on my work
Been working alot on the brickwall explosion!
Now my brick wall explodes much more realistically
With controlled static objects, fractured and breakable bjects in specific area to give a more controlled explosion.
now my scene has an enviroment of procedural trees
need to texture them tho =)
looking good and if all goes well it should be completed a week before presentation

Well its time to talk about my project.
WHat has started off as a project i wanted to destroy the eiffel tower. THen i scaled it down to an l sysytem with chops which i pretty much nailed it in the 1st week
it progressed to growing a flower
and now after that its going to smash out of a brick wall

How do i do it?
Simply use two rbd objects and collide with each other.

WEnt on a field trip to malibu.
Walked around a house called the admson house or something like that
had a lot of history and was a very very beautiful place.
had a great view of the beach too

Today we went to universal studios hollywood. Had a great time and learned some of the special effects technique they used in movies. Went around the studios and saw the sets and props they used for the movies. Well worth the money spent!

Kevin Mack came down and gave us a talk

Kevin Mack is a pioneering Digital Artist and Academy Award winning
Visual Effects Supervisor. He received the Oscar for his work on the
film "What Dreams May Come". His other film credits include "Percy
Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief", "Speed Racer", "Ghost
Rider", "Big Fish", "Fight Club", "A Beautiful Mind", "Vanilla Sky",
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "Apollo 13" and many more.

The son of Disney artists, Kevin was tutored in art by his parents and
their artist friends. At 16, he received a scholarship for drawing
classes at Art Center College of Design. At 18, he was the youngest
student to be accepted into the college program, where he studied Fine
Art, Illustration and Film.

After college, Mack worked in the film industry doing traditional glass
matte painting, scenic painting, sculpting, model making, animation,
storyboards and set design.

In the mid-eighties, Kevin began experimenting with computers to make
his art and music. Recognizing it's potential for film work, he helped
pioneer the use of computer graphics for visual effects. In 2007 he
received an honorary Doctorate of Science degree from Art Center for his
contributions to the field of motion picture visual effects.

Mack's work is the result of ongoing research in a wide range of fields
from the mathematics of complexity to neuroscience and human perception.
His work in Artificial Life and Rule Based Systems, used on "What
Dreams May Come" and "Fight Club", inspired the development of tissue
simulation software that is now being used for virtual stem cell
research. In 2006, Mack received the title of Honorary Neuroscientist,
from UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine, for his lectures there on
perception, visualization and creativity.

Mack's fine art, animation and music document his exploration of
infinity, complexity and the nature of reality and consciousness. His
work has been exhibited at the Laguna Beach Art Museum, Carnegie Melon
University, Siggraph, the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Visual
Amalgam, the Hive and various LA art shows.

WENT TO THE GUN RANGE!!!!!!!! Got to try out 4 pistols Glock 17, Glock19, USP, and the Smith & Wesson 629 .44 mag. Man my personal fav was the .44 magnum!!!

Met franklin today. Told him about my plans. He was very surprised with my idea because not many people would dare to venture into lsystem with chops. So we talked alot on how he worked with chops and l system before haha. Nice guy!

Day 8

Hmm went out ate at the KFC . Wow ed ate the double down hahah. RIght went to the 99 cent store and ate BEEF JERKY! and had some food. Walked all the way to big5 was a sporting store. Oh and did i mention there were LOTS OF GUNS SWEET MAN!
walked all the way bback home .Distance walked : 10-15km.

Went to the pier. Was very interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gosh from star wars to impersonators. Wow so many activities. You dont get it back here in singapore.
Had lunch at a seafood restarunt.

Day 5!

Well was a quiet day or sort of. EMpty office just the interns and us and ziggy. Right did my work and was satisfied. SHared my work with the interns

Oh and did i mention that we walked all the way home?
Yeah it was kinda fun

Day 3

So its day 3 and still a little jet lagged
Had breakfast at home and headed to the office
went to pitch in my new idea
decided to do an experimental l-system with chops animations.
that seem to got alot of interest and to my knowledge it has not been done - yet
ziggy is a very nice guy and offers great advice!
well went to luch at johnny rockets
ugh now i know why so many ppl here are huggeee.
the burgers here are like 4 big macs @_@

Went back to the office
And had a presentation by the other interns
im surprised at how well their works are
got me inspired to do something very good here.

Day 2

Had breakfast at broadway delis
i have to say its the best i have eaten for breakfast =)
so went up to the office and got some goodies from them
and they invited us to lunch at some mexican cafe

Went to the office and pitched in the idea for my project
I wanted to destry the eiffel tower but simulation was highly discouraged
Simulation is widely base on the knowledge of what the different
attributes or parameter does and its not directable .

So i had to come up with another idea

Touched down at LAX airport at around 9.30am i guess after a very long flight.
Headed to the apartment via cab.
Have to admit, the place is nicer than i expected
Went to the office after we settled down.
Got off at 4th street and walked to the office
At the office , met the people and had a very warm reception
They were so friendly!
Went to have dinner at subways and thats all for today
